Happiness, as they say, is an inside job. An emotional state to which we have applied a label and which society and the media at large profess is the only way to be. There is no intelligence, artificial or human, that can tell you how to be “happy”.

Indeed, there are many philosophical, spiritual and religious schools of thought that argue happiness is not the end goal, but rather just one of a multitude of emotions that make up the human experience.

So if you’re feeling down, take solace in the fact that you are not alone and that this too shall pass. Instead, focus on acknowledging whatever emotional state you find yourself in. It’s totally ok to feel exactly as you do, in the here and now.

And remember that it is not fundamentally bad to be temporarily “unhappy”. In fact, it is known that periods of internal conflict are often followed by significant personal growth as we try to make sense of ourselves within the situation that is causing us stress.

Lean into it if you can. The probabilities of you existing are one in 6 trillion. You are alive, and anything is possible. Really. Take ownership of things that are in your control, let go of things that are not. You’ve got this.
